Camp Session 4: The Resurrection

February 18, 2013 Class Sessions  No comments

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Christian faith. The Apostle Paul says that “if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.” [1 Corinthians 15:14]

In this session we take an in depth look at the historical evidence for the resurrection of Jesus. Using standard historical methods, we establish the likelihood of four facts that the majority of New Testament scholars (Christians or not) believe are historically likely;

  1. The Crucifixion
  2. The Empty Tomb
  3. The Appearances of Jesus
  4. The Origin of the Christian Faith (with belief in the bodily resurrection)

Along the way, we discuss alternative theories that have been proposed, and try to show that the weight of the historical evidence demonstrates that Jesus Christ really did rise from the dead.
